ESTABLISHMENT:
In the year 1972, two ambitious engineers Mr D Fonseca and Mr R J Oswal decided to quit their comfortable jobs and took a plunge into the Industrial World by establishing a partnership company to manufacture Bottling Plants, for Soft Drinks, Breweries, Distilleries, Pharmaceuticals and other products using Bottle as a Packing material, and thus HILDEN & CO., Engineers - a partnership company was born.
The two Engineers, specialized in Production Engineering & Mechanical Design. They combined their resources and experience, totaling more than forty years, along with a lot of courage and innovative ideas to commence operations in a small works shop of 1000 sq. ft. Their only finance was their personal savings. Their goal was to manufacture machines of the finest quality and latest technology.
FIRST CLIENT:
In those days there were hardly two or three companies manufacturing Bottling Plants and that too of a very small capacity and with minimum automation.
Duke & Sons Pvt. Ltd., were looking for a high speed Bottle Washer to fulfill their expansion needs. With faith in Young Engineers, Dukes decided to place the first order with HILDEN to build a Bottle Washer of 20 wide with a capacity 300 bottles per minute. The machine was the first of its kind to be build in India with indigenous technology. The first machine of HILDEN was installed on 15th August, 1973 – the 26th INDEPENDENCE Day of India. Thereafter, there was no looking back for HILDEN or for DUKES. Machine after machine was built of higher capacities with better performance. It can be seen from our list of clients that DUKES has major supplies from HILDEN
HILDEN ALWAYS ACKNOWLEDGES Dukes as their GOD FATHER and refers to the DUKES plant in BOMBAY as their Show Room.
EXPORTS:
In 1978 and 1980 HILDEN exported Fruit Juice Bottling plants to Sharjah and Mongadiscio, both plants having a capacity of producing 120000 bottles per shift.
RECOGNITION:
The recognition of achievements came in 1982. HILDEN was selected to receive a CITATION PLAQUE and CERTIFICATE of Award as a successful Small Scale Industry. The Award was presented by the VICE-PRESIDENT of INDIA to D. Fonseca, who accepted the award on behalf of the Company.
CHANGE :
In 1983, one of the engineer decided to retire from active partnership and hence the constitution of HILDEN & CO., Engineers was changed to a Private Limited Company named as HILDEN PACKAGING MACHINES PVT. LTD. The name was selected to give proper perspective to HILDEN’s activities not only in Bottling Plants but also to cover Packaging Machines.
EXPANSION:
Within three years of establishment, the need for larger manufacturing facility became imminent. A one thousand square meter plot was purchased in 1974 and the factory building of 5000 sq. ft. was ready for occupation in April 1975. The new building had ample space for machine shop, assembly shop as well as the R & D department, the heart of HILDEN’S activities. The same building by 1980 was expanded into 10,000 square feet, a three storeyed structure, housing the complete activities of HILDEN.
A second factory building was purchased in the neighboring Baroda in Gujarat State having 20,000 square feet by the year 1986. Thus, today there are 30,000 square feet of factory buildings – housing two machine shops, assembly shops, administration offices and a R & D Center.
BREAK THROUGH:
In 1977, Chandigarh Bottling Co., a franchise of Parle Exports Pvt. Ltd. – bottling THUMS UP, fed up with their slow speed and outdated Italian make Counter Pressure Filler, approached HILDEN to build a high speed Filler/Crowner of 220 bottles per minute. HILDEN gladly accepted the challenge and the first machine was installed in MAY 1978 having 28 filling valves and 6 crowning heads.
After manufacturing seven such machines, a NEW Design having 30 filling valves and 8 crowning heads was introduced Model – CP-30/8. This model became a very successful machine operating at speeds of 250/300 bottles per minute and there are about fifty such machines operating in the country.
EXPORTS:
In 1978 and 1980 HILDEN exported fruit juice bottling plants to Sharjah and Mogadiscio, both plants having a capacity of producing 1,20,000 bottles per shift. In the recent past we have supplied a complete Carbonated and Fruit Juice Line to Kenya and similar lines to Bhutan, Nepal and Male.
TODAY:
HILDEN now manufactures Aerated Soft Drink, Fruit Juice & Mineral Water Fillers having 60,75 valves and 15 Crowner/cappers, operating at speeds of 500 bottles per minute. Bottle Washers of 20wide / 25wide / 30wide / 34 Wide/ 40 wide / 43 Wide & 45 Wide bottles and having one/two/three/four soaking compartments running at speeds of 300 BPM to 720 bottles per minute are built. A Matching capacity Proportion Mixers, Carbonators and Conveyors are also offered. Automatic Case/Carton de-craters and case packers are also manufactured of matching capacity.
Apart from Soft Drinks, HILDEN also manufacturers equipment for Breweries, Distilleries as well as Pharmaceuticals and Cosmetics. Pressure Sensitive Labelling Machines, Coding and Inspection machines, Screw Cappers, Carton Erectors and Sealers are some of the packaging machines in the range. The capacity and efficiency of our Machines are continuously being enhanced. We provide cost effective solutions with the lowest capital investment costs to our clients.
LOOKING AHEAD:
With the PET bottle revolution hilden is now manufacturing high speed total pet lines consisting of RINSER FILLER CAPPERS upto 200 BPM for 1500 ML pack size along with air conveyors ,bottle
warmers, hotmelt roll feed labeller and case packers. We integrate these high speed PET lines along with sidel blowing machines for all kind of products like soft drinks, still water,
